Robotaxi Autonomous Vehicle Competition has two categories: the Original Vehicle Category and the Ready Vehicle Category. In the Original Vehicle Category, teams will compete from A to Z, creating and programming their entire vehicle to be the best. In the Ready Vehicle Category, teams will run their software on autonomous vehicle platforms provided within the scope of TEKNOFEST. Both categories involve autonomously performing various tasks on a real track environment.
Teams consisting of high school, associate degree, undergraduate, graduate students, and graduates can participate. Teams composed of high school students will compete in the same category as university-level teams. The main goal of the competition is to autonomously perform various tasks in a real track environment and develop autonomous driving algorithms. The finals of the competition are planned to take place in August 2024. In the "Original Vehicle Category," the first-place team will receive 200,000 TL, the second-place team 150,000 TL, and the third-place team 120,000 TL. In the "Ready Vehicle Category," the first-place team will receive 150,000 TL, the second-place team 120,000 TL, and the third-place team 100,000 TL as prize money.
The YTÜ-AESK team, which left its mark on the Robotaxi and Efficiency Challenge competitions within the scope of the TEKNOFEST Aviation, Space, and Technology Festival in 2019 and 2020, turned the TEKNOFEST spirit within them into a remarkable success story. The team members established the technology company Robeff in November 2021 and further enhanced their achievements. Robeff, with its electric and driverless vehicle platforms, provided solutions to the logistics sector and succeeded in becoming one of the few companies in the world in this field. Robeff, a graduate of the TEKNOFEST Entrepreneurship Program's first term, received an investment based on a 1.5 million dollars valuation. Inspired by TEKNOFEST, Robeff set an important example for future generations.
