About the Program



It aims to create awareness in terms of turning business ideas and products built by the teams for TEKNOFEST competitions into startups. Encouraging TEKNOFEST teams or team members to entrepreneurship, building their startups by transforming their TEKNOFEST projects or different projects they developed into an internationally competitive, innovation-oriented, high technology leveled, commercially validated, marketable product or service are aimed. At the same time, it is intended to support TEKNOFEST teams or team members who have established their company as a startup and carry out R&D studies or who want to take their projects to the next level that have presented their commercial products or service to the market. Contributing to realization of National Technology Initiative is aimed in this way.

In line with these purposes; a special TEKNOFEST Startup Competition is organized for high school, university and higher level teams or team members who applied to the competitions organized within TEKNOFEST in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023. The competition will be held through the startup presentation prepared by the teams within ten themes covering TEKNOFEST competitions.

Apart from the information provided in the specifications, you must join the relevant email group for your further questions using the TKENOFEST STARTUP link. Your questions and their answers will be visible to other members of the email group.

In the TEKNOFEST Startup Competition, which will be held at Ankara Etimesgut Airport on 30 August - 3 September and at Çiğli Airport on 27 September - 1 October, it has been determined in which province the 10 themes will be held!

1. What is TEKNOFEST Startup Competition?

It is a competition to be held in Ankara and İzmir for high school, university and higher level team or team members who apply to the competitions organized within TEKNOFEST in 2018-2023. The competition will be held through the startup presentation prepared by the teams within ten themes covering TEKNOFEST competitions.

2. What a re the d ifferences between t he P RE-INCUBATION a nd A CCELERATION categories?

TEKNOFEST Startup Competitions will be held in two categories: Pre-Incubation and Acceleration. The final decision to be taken by the committee will be taken as a basis in the evaluation of the suitability of the applications for the Pre-Incubation or Acceleration levels. In the Pre-Incubation category, teams are expected to develop the startup idea and/or prototype product, and there is no incorporation requirement. In the Acceleration category, teams must have converted their project into a testable prototype and/or product and must be incorporated.

3. What themes does it consist of?

TEKNOFEST Startup Competition; Education Technologies, Health and Well-BeingTechnologies, Transportation and Mobility Technologies, Agricultural Technologies, Communication Technologies, Tourism Technologies, Environment, Energy and Climate Technologies, Space, Aviation and Defense Technologies, Disaster Management Technologies and Barrier-Free Living Technologies will be carried out.

4. Is there a requirement for incorporation in the competition?

There is a requirement for incorporation only for the competitors who will apply for the acceleration category.

5. Who can apply to TEKNOFEST Startup?

Competitors who have applied to TEKNOFEST competitions at high school, university and above level and want to convert their project into a startup can apply  to TEKNOFEST Startup.
 

6. Where can I apply?

All necessary processes within the scope of the competition are CMS is done through. Teams are required to follow all processes through the CMS system.

7. What are the rewards?

75.000 ₺ for each of the top 3 teams in the pre-incubation category and 150.000 ₺ for each of the top 3 teams in the acceleration category, separately for each theme.

8. What will happen in Ankara and İzmir within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2023?

TEKNOFEST Startup Competition will be held within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2023 to be held in Ankara and İzmir. The competition will be held on the startup presentations prepared by the teams in 10 different themes and 2 sub categories determined within the scope of the competition.

9. Can I apply with my team, how many people can I apply?

Applications for the competition are accepted as a team. Teams consist of a minimum of three (3), a maximum of twenty-five (25) people, including the team captain.

10. Can I apply to more than one category and theme with a project?

No, you can apply for only one (1) theme with one (1) project. Applications ofteams applying in a different category or different theme with the same startup will be deemed invalid.

11. Can I apply to compete with more than one team?

No. Each team member can join a team.

12. I attended TEKNOFEST when I was in high school, I am a university student now. Can you explain what it is? Do you mind if I participate in the competition?

You can join. Applications are open to high school, university and above students. You can apply to the TEKNOFEST Startup Competition according to your education level at the time you applied.

13. What are the opportunities provided within the scope of TEKNOFEST Startup Competition?

It provides the opportunity to benefit from many opportunities such as Presentation Opportunity on Stage, Exhibiting Your Product, Cash Prize, Potential Collaboration Negotiations, Promoting Your Project and Transportation-Accommodation support.

14. Will accommodation be provided?

Yes. Accommodation support will be provided to 3 people from each team.

15. How is difference TEKNOFEST Startup previous TEKNOFEST events? 12. I attended TEKNOFEST when I was in high school, I am a university student now. Can you explain what it is?

As a result of TEKNOFEST competitions, it is aimed to raise awareness about the business ideas and products created by the teams in terms of turning them into startup. In this competition, the competitors will be evaluated based on their initiative presentations.

16. Where will TEKNOFEST be held in Izmir and Ankara?

It will be held from 30 August to 3 September at Ankara Etimesgut Airport, and from 27 September to 1 October at İzmir Çiğli Airport.

17. 14. Will accommodation be provided? Answer: Yes. Accommodation support will be provided to 3 people from each team. How should the Application Submission format mentioned in the Application Guide

You are expected to prepare the Application Presentation specified in the Application Guide as an initiative presentation format. 10 titles (Cover, Problem, Solution, Product, Market, Competitor Analysis, Business Model, Market Entry) in your presentation in the format Strategy, Team, Closing - Contact Information). You can access the presentation format template on the competition page on the TEKNOFEST website. You can prepare your presentation in Turkish or English.

18. Is it mandatory to have a consultant in the team?

Teams applying at university level and above are not required to have a consultant. However, high school level teams must have one (1) advisor.

19. If I have never been a TEKNOFEST Contestant before, can I apply for the I applied with my team, but adding/removing members I want, is it possible? TEKNOFEST Start up Competition?

At least 1 (one) member of the team has applied in previous years. It is enough to be a TEKNOFEST Contestant.

20. I took part in another competition/organization with my entrepreneurial idea. Do you mind if I agree with the same idea?

It is okay to participate, but if your project has taken part in another competition before, the name, place, date, organizer, and results of the competition you have participated in should be reported in the application form.

21. According to which criteria will the Startup Presentation be evaluated?

Presentations will be evaluated by the Evaluation Committee on the basis of Problem-Solution Matching, Product, Innovation, Traction, Market, Team, Presentation criteria.

22. 19. If I have never been a TEKNOFEST Contestant before, can I apply for the I applied with my team, but adding/removing members I want, is it possible?

Yes, during the application process, adding/removing members you can do. Then this operation will not be allowed.

23. Will international participants be included in the competition?

TEKNOFEST Startup is open to national and international participants. International participants can also apply and submit their projects.

24. How can we apply if our project focuses on more than one category or theme?

A project can only apply to one theme and category. Therefore, you can apply by choosing a theme and category that your project focuses on the most or that you think is most appropriate.

25.Can we apply more than once with different projects together with the team?

The same team or team members can apply with an idea. Applications with more than one idea will not be accepted.

26. Can a team member take part in more than one team?

A team member can only take part in one team.

27. Can we apply more than once with different teams?

No, you can only submit one application.

28. Members of the team may be from different education levels and different schools?

Yes, the members of the team to be established can be from different education levels (high school and above) and from different schools.
