The primary goal of the FPV Drone Tracking Competition is to evaluate the perception, decision-making, and dynamic target-tracking capabilities of autonomous aerial vehicles in a realistic mission environment. The competition particularly encourages the development of technologies based on computer vision and autonomous control algorithms, and participants are expected to design systems capable of successfully tracking a moving target without using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).
In this context, competing teams will design systems that autonomously detect and follow a moving target drone solely through vision-based sensing methods. As such, the competition also contributes to participants’ acquisition of critical skills in advanced UAV target tracking, frame-centering, reacquisition of lost targets, and dynamic flight performance.
The FPV Drone Tracking Competition brings together participants from various segments of the technology development ecosystem. Teams can consist of associate degree, undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students studying in Türkiye or abroad, graduates, and private sector professionals. Each team must include at least 4 and no more than 10 members, excluding advisors. This structure allows participants from different disciplines to collaborate and develop strong, innovative solutions.
At the conclusion of the competition, top-ranking teams will receive significant awards. The first-place team will be awarded 300,000 TRY, the second-place team 250,000 TRY, and the third-place team 200,000 TRY. In addition to monetary prizes, participants will have the opportunity to showcase their projects to a broad technology ecosystem and connect with experts in the field.
The FPV Drone Tracking Competition offers an important opportunity for young people who wish to advance their skills in autonomous systems, computer vision technologies, and unmanned aerial vehicles. It seeks the next generation of engineers’ projects that will shape the skies. Teams interested in technology and eager to develop the autonomous systems of the future must complete their applications by March 25.
The countdown has begun for all technology enthusiasts who want to take part in this excitement where competition and innovation meet in the sky.
