Applications continue for the Efficiency Challenge Electric Vehicle Competition organized by TÜBİTAK within the scope of TEKNOFEST Aerospace and Technology Festival. The competition is open to all university students (undergraduate, master's, and doctoral) in Turkey and abroad, as well as high school students this year. Applications can be made until February 20.

The competition aims to promote the use of alternative and clean energy sources in the automotive industry and raise awareness about the use of alternative energies in vehicle technologies. It is divided into two categories: Electromobile (battery-powered electric vehicle) and Hydromobile (hydrogen-powered electric vehicle). Winners in both categories will receive substantial awards, with the first-place winners receiving 200,000 TL, second-place winners receiving 150,000 TL, and third-place winners receiving 120,000 TL.

The goal of the competition is to bring forth the most efficient vehicles in terms of design and technical specifications. While encouraging students to gain knowledge and experience in vehicle technologies, the competition also aims to stimulate research opportunities and keep participants informed about global developments in the field.

As electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles gain traction globally, efforts are being made to increase domestic production, develop high-value-added products, and conduct intensive R&D studies on battery-powered vehicles, which are considered the future of technology. Hydrogen-powered vehicles, which convert stored hydrogen on the vehicle into energy through a fuel cell system, represent another alternative and clean energy vehicle being worked on to increase usage in the future.

Proudly Emerging from TEKNOFEST…

The ODTÜ-TEK team participated in the Efficiency Challenge competition at TEKNOFEST 2019 and received the "Promotion and Popularization" award. In November 2021, the team members established the "Miltium Mechatronic Systems" company. Miltium focuses on developing precision-positioned products for use in the defense industry. As a graduate of the TEKNOFEST Entrepreneurship Program, Miltium continues its activities in the field of robotics, providing services and products to various defense industry companies. One of the many success stories born from TEKNOFEST, Miltium, is confidently moving forward.
